Live with a New Purpose

If you would like new meaning and purpose in your life, make a conscious decision to walk with God.

Take action as soon as you can by saying the prayer of salvation and then moving forward in obedience to God’s word (gather with other believers, study the bible, and share your faith with others).

You can truly enjoy the ability to have peace in this life and know for sure that you have salvation for all of eternity!!

·         We all have 1 fate (death) and 2 possible destinations (Heaven or Hell). – Matthew 25:46

·         We all live forever because we were made by God to be eternal beings.

·         God gives us a choice as to where we want to spend eternity.

·         We know this because of the basic gospel message:

·         1/ God’s Purpose for Humanity is to live in peace with Him and have eternal life

o   We disappoint Him when we choose to live in disobedience, especially when He has provided an escape plan (a Savior) for us.  His name is Jesus Christ.

·         2/ Our problem is that we have been separated from God

o   When we were born, we inherited a “sin virus” from Adam and Eve because of their disobedience.

o   As a result, humanity has been tainted by sin and we deserve God’s punishment.  But He wants us back!

·         3/ God gives each of us a chance to close the separation gap

o   We close the gap by accepting that Jesus died on the cross for each of us—we essentially invite Him into our lives and tell Him we surrender control to Him.

o   We understand that we will not (on the day we die) be compared to other people during God’s evaluation of us.  Instead, we will be evaluated against the perfection of Jesus.  When we understand this biblical truth, we realize we will never measure up, no matter how much we try.  Unless we do something about this before we die, we will not make it to Heaven.  We must allow Jesus entrance into our lives.

o   This is God’s provision and escape plan for us.

·         4/ The death of Jesus satisfies our debt to God

o   We are freed when we embrace this truth and respond to it in order to be saved.

o   Jesus took the punishment we deserve and transferred His righteousness to us.  We therefore stand faultless before God.  When He looks at us, He sees the perfection of His Son, Jesus Christ.

o   How do we respond?  We pray to God and ask for His forgiveness and promise to follow what He commands us to do in His instruction manual, the Holy Bible.  It is a covenant we make with God in order to be saved from an eternity in Hell.  This is a 30 second prayer and can be done anywhere you happen to be.

·         Which destination will you choose—Heaven or Hell?

·         Jesus, in His Sermon on the Mount, laid out this choice with 4 illustrations:

o   1/ Two paths – the narrow one that leads to life and the wide one that leads to destruction (Matthew 7:13-14).

§  Are you on the road to life or the road to death?

o   2/ Two trees – the one that produces good fruit and the one that produces bad fruit (Matthew 7:15-20).

§  Are you listening to spiritual teachers and leaders who produce good fruit rather than bad fruit?

o   3/ Two followers – the true disciple who does the will of God and the false disciple who pays lip service to God (Matthew 7:21-23).

§  Are you a true follower or a false follower of Jesus Christ?

o   4/ Two houses – the one built on solid rock and the one built on sand (Matthew 7:24-27).

§  Is your current spiritual life built on a solid foundation (that of Jesus) or on sinking sand (that of the cultural world view)?

·         “Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14.

·         A day is coming when the Judge of the earth will do what is right.  He is better and wiser than us, and our eternal destinations will be decided according to justice.

·         If you plan ahead, you can live your life by walking the narrow path and thereby enter Heaven through the narrow gate!  Yes you can, because God keeps His promises!!

·         In this life:

o   You can eat the good fruit from true teachers.

o   You can really claim to know Jesus and obey Him.

o   You can build your spiritual house on bedrock by believing in Jesus and doing what He commands.

o   If you do, you face a wonderful eternity of life, joy, assurance, and stability.

o   If you don’t, you face a terrible eternity of death, fire, and regret.

o   Jesus is the ONLY way“I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6.

·         Heaven and Hell await your decision.
