Top 12 Things You Need to Know About Jesus

/ Jesus is the Son of God and like God, Jesus is eternal.

/ He was born of the Virgin Mary so that He could become like us, to teach us what we need to know about life and living it according to God’s word.

/ He was a carpenter by trade, and at age 31 He started His ministry, going from town to town and teaching the gospel to the Jews because He was a Jewish rabbi.  He converted many Jews to Christianity.

/ He had God’s deity and perfect righteousness in His human form, ordained by God to perform miracles by healing the sick and providing for the needy.

/ He was a sinless man and a perfect example of a person we ought to aspire to emulate.   His lessons were life-changing and sought to teach humanity about God’s promises, because people were becoming more and more self-righteous.  He was gentle, kind, and humble with everyone.

/ He told people they would be persecuted if they followed Him, but that following Him was the only way to God and eternal life.

/ He was perceived as controversial and unfairly prosecuted for heresy by the authorities who hated Him for challenging their long-held beliefs.  They nailed Him to a cross, and He died asking His Father in Heaven to forgive those who persecuted and killed Him.

/ He was buried in a tomb with security standing by.

/ After 3 days in the tomb, He rose from the dead and was seen by at least 500 people, including His disciples (the 12 who chose to follow Him despite persecution).  The Roman authorities instructed the tomb guards to lie about the missing body after the resurrection, to avoid proof that Jesus was really who He said He was.

/ No other person in the history of the world has risen from the dead, by God’s hand.  He lived a sinless life of healing people and encouraging them to come to God.

/ Jesus loves us and wants us to love Him.  We demonstrate our love for Him by obeying God’s commandments.

/ God sent Jesus (the first time) as the Savior of the world; when Jesus comes the second (and last) time, He will come to judge the world.   We need to do everything we can to be ready for His return.  If we die before He returns, and we are prepared, we go straight to Heaven.
